Porting
Porting is the modification of the chainsaws intake, cylinder and exhaust system. These modifications increase the saws longevity by helping the saw run cooler and more efficiently. An increase in power will also result in a better power to weight ratio.
Why Port?
The introduction of the California emission standards in the early 1990's had a significant worldwide impact on small engines. Chainsaw's exhausts became heavily restricted causing heat build up within the cylinder, reducing power and longevity.
For this reason many users choose to have their saws ported, which helps them run better for the reasons mentioned above.
